Rushern Baker appearing at Nov. 4th Family Restoration and Healing Center Event
Did you know that 70 percent of adults in the United States have experienced a traumatic event at least once in their lives? Or that 2/3 of Americans say they are stressed about the future of our nation? And that unmanaged stress is interconnected with the topmost causes of death globally: accidents, cancer, heart disease, suicide, lung disorders, crime, and others?
Rushern Baker, Prince George’s County Executive, will make opening remarks at a free community conversation entitled, “Managing Stress in a World Full of Crises.” It takes place at 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Solid Rock Church, 5401 Goodluck Rd., Riverdale, Md.
At the event, presented by Family Restoration and Healing Center, Inc., best practices will be shared for managing stress, amidst around-the-clock news reports about natural disasters, gun violence and other world crises and stressors beyond our control.
A panel of experts will discuss with audience members the signs of stress vs. addiction or mental illness; when to encourage someone to get help; the role the faith community, educators and law enforcement can play in breaking stigmas and helping communities stay safe. Resources will be provided.
This two-and-a-half hour event replaces the annual conference originally scheduled for that date.
Participants in the free community conversation are asked to donate $5.00 to our food drive or bring a non-perishable food item that will help feed hungry, local residents.
