Dementia affects millions of senior citizens in USA. Fortunately, there are things we can do to prevent that from happening.  Boosting our diets with nutrient-rich foods and vitamin supplements is a way we may prevent dementia. In particular, vitamins C and E seem to prevent the onset of dementia caused by stroke and mental decline. According to BBC (2000), added vitamins could prevent the damage to brain cells and limit the amount of brain damage after a stroke.

According to a study with data from the Honolulu Heart Program, those taking both vitamin C and vitamin E supplements at least once a week were 88% less likely to have vascular dementia four years later, and they were also 69% less prone to have other forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's-related, than those not taking supplements (BBC, 200).
