Nutrient-Rich Diet Decreases Alzheimer’s Risk

 

 

 

Continuing with Alzheimer’s information, I would like to share some positive and empowering results with you. It turns out that you can actually prevent Alzheimer’s by eating healthier diet full of nutrients, especially antioxidants. According to BBC (2002), two studies published in the Journal of the American Medical Association concluded that people who eat foods rich in antioxidants such as vitamin E and C are less likely to develop Alzheimer's. Antioxidants play an important role in keeping as healthy because they combat the body's free radicals (charged particles produced by the body, which can damage cells). A high intake of the antioxidants vitamins C and E found in papaya, citrus fruits, strawberries, bell peppers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and dark leafy greens; flavanoids; and beta-carotene decreases the risk of developing Alzheimer’s (BBC, 2002).

Eating a diet rich in nutrients, especially antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, helps to prevent Alzheimer’s. Antioxidants are mainly found in fruits and vegetables; therefore, it is time to eat more of them!
