Holistic Health in 2016

So many within the U.S. have been (and are getting) more and more involved in using and applying holistic health! I, for one, have been using different aspects of it—seeking to improve my mental/emotional health through physical exercise AND greater physical health through emotional/spiritual improvement. These are well-founded principles, going back through the Millennia. For an example, look at the Christian's Bible, in the Book of Proverbs, “A happy heart is good medicine and a joyful mind causes healing, But a broken spirit dries up the bones.”  And haven't we known people, including ourselves, who make themselves sick due to stressing out, and lots of anxiety?

There are thousands of doctors across our country who are trained in and employ holistic health techniques.  They in fact have their own organization: American Holistic Health Association. Members include MD's, Ph.D's, naturopaths, chiropractors, and nurses, among other specialities.

They take a different approach to healing and maintaining health than many regular doctors (Mds).   For instance, check out this interesting statement by Doctor David Katz, “If you can descend one degenerating spiral at a time, you can reverse engineer the process — and ascend the same way! In my view, that is what holistic care — in its practical details — needs to be.”[i]  So that hopefully, in looking at the whole picture, rather than physical symptoms only, they can help you, over time, gain lasting health.

Read Attorney Gladys Bank's story here, of recovery from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, using the modalities of dietary changes, herbal therapy, acupuncture, and specialized massage.

Now of course, don't go off just reading something (especially online) and self-diagnose, and self-treat. You just may need trained, professional medical care. But, with the right guidance, and given sufficient time, you might see profound health and mental health success.
