GREENBELT, MARYLAND – Family Restoration & Healing Center, Inc. announced today that after 10 years of devoted service to the residents of Prince Georges County, MD and surrounding communities, the Co-founders of Family Restoration & Healing Center, Inc. (FRHC), Karen and Ken Thompson, will be retiring.
Malika Holmes was selected to replace Ken Thompson, Sr. as Board Chair while the organization conducts a search for a new Executive Director to replace Karen Thompson.
FRHC wishes to thank Karen and Ken Thompson, Sr., who will remain in an advisory capacity until December 31, 2020, for their decade of leadership to FRHC and contributions to the Prince Georges community. We also congratulate them both for graduating in October 2020 with a Doctorate of Theology Degree (Th. D).

Dr. Karen Thompson, who has been the energetic, engaging, results-oriented Executive Director of FRHC for the past 10 years, has led the organization to successfully train and support at-risk youth and adults in achieving their benchmarks for career success, family success, health and wellness.
Mrs. Thompson brought to the organization more than 35 years of experience in non-profit leadership, strategy setting, outcomes-based education, project planning, grants management, and evaluation. She is also a consultant to national organizations in the areas of adult and child education, a certified temperament counselor for adults and youth, and the co-author of 2 wellness guides, “360 Wholeness: Mind-Body-Spirit: Achieving Mental, Physical and Spiritual Wellness”, and “Healing Streams” Book & 2 CD set.
Dr. Kenneth Thompson, Sr., who served as Board Chair, is a certified pastoral counselor and certified temperament counselor (CTC) with training in case management for youth and adults. Additionally, he is a certified marriage coach, and has helped couples to reconcile and achieve success in marriage.
He has co-authored two literary works: “360° Wholeness, Mind-Body-Spirit: Achieving Mental, Physical and Spiritual Wellness”, which is a mental health guidebook; and “Healing Streams”, which is a book & 2 CD set of scripture declarations and prayers.
“It has been both an honor and privilege to work with Karen and Ken. We thank and appreciate them both for their vision, their leadership and their contributions to Family Restoration & Healing Center,” said Malika Holmes, who is the current Board Chair. “Their tireless commitment to providing increased emotional, physical and spiritual health to the residents of Prince Georges County, Maryland and beyond has been awe inspiring and does not go unnoticed.” Ms. Holmes also continued on to say, “As a Board, we are committed to conducting a comprehensive search, including seeking input, to identify the next Executive Director who will execute our growth strategy and lead Family Restoration and Healing Center into the next chapter.”
The Board is committed to the mission of Family Restoration and Healing Center, Inc. and is excited continue working in the community with programming focused on coping with COVID-19, work force development, family communication, and counseling.
